Summer park events are heating up

A campfire and tents glow at night
Campfire ban lifted for all state parks and wildlife management areas
A temporary campfire ban has been lifted for the final portion of the state! Unless a local, individual burn ban is in place, park guests may once again have campfires in central and western Nebraska.
Known local bans are affecting Lake McConaughy, Lake Ogallala and Swanson Reservoir state recreation areas. Before visiting a park, call ahead and check if any local burn bans are in place.

Love butterflies? Volunteers needed!
We're looking for volunteers! If you love butterflies, attend a free training session May 31 or June 7, where we'll teach you how to survey for monarchs and regal fritillaries in Nebraska this summer.
The valuable data you collect will help researchers conserve and better understand these rare and at-risk species. A third workshop on June 14 will offer a wider look at monarch conservation in Nebraska.

Archery paddlefish season is June 1-30
It's a time of year some eagerly anticipate: Nebraska's archery paddlefish season. This year, it is June 1-30 from sunrise to sunset on a designated stretch of the Missouri River. Read more for details on where this area is and other things anglers need to know.

It's time to apply. Now through May 30, Game and Parks is taking 2025 landowner draw permit applications for elk and antelope. Permits will be available through the close of the hunting season or until the quota sells out.
