Poll Results: Your Opinions Matter to Us!

Dear Supporter,

The House of Representatives just rammed through the largest Medicaid cut in the program’s 60-year history. If it passes in the U.S. Senate, it could deprive millions of older Americans, children and families access to vital health care services.

That’s why I recently asked this question of our readers: As House Republicans inch closer to passing the largest Medicaid cut in history, do you believe these cuts should be used to help pay for extending massive tax hikes for the wealthy and huge corporations — or do you believe they will deprive millions of Americans from basic health care who will ultimately become sicker and cost taxpayers more in the long run?

Overall, 95% of respondents answered a resounding “NO.” It’s clear our supporters are deeply concerned by the GOP agenda that could lead to drastic reductions in Medicaid funding and deprive a population of basic health care and access to critical services.

The GOP cuts could hit seniors especially hard ( [link removed] ), as Medicaid pays for 60% of long-term care services and supports. In particular, the current legislation would force many States to discontinue funding for Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), forcing seniors who wish to remain in their homes to seek care at nursing homes instead.

With your continued support, the National Committee will ramp up pressure on members of Congress to stop the push to pay for a $5 trillion expansion of tax cuts that mainly benefit the wealthy and huge corporations by gutting programs that are vital to seniors and our nation’s most vulnerable populations.

Please make a gift in any amount you can afford today ( [link removed] ) to support the National Committee’s urgent fight to defeat any bill or amendment that deprives millions of Americans with the health care they need and deserve.

And then call your members of Congress at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to reject devastating cuts to Medicaid that would be used to help pay for debt-busting tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires.

Thank you again for your loyal partnership.
