It’s been a long and exhausting 24 hours.

As you probably saw, Republicans jammed through their “big beautiful bill” in the early morning hours today (we ended voting at 6am). This devastating bill strips health care from 14 million people all so Trump can fund his tax cuts for billionaires like Elon Musk. It’s a heartless bill and I voted no.

The bill passed by a vote of 215-214, we lost it by one vote.

This is a nightmare for the community I love. Hospitals will close and premiums will skyrocket. Families won’t be able to take their kids to the doctor, prescriptions will go unfilled and ER wait times will spike. Thousands of local health care workers will be laid off.

I know I may sound dramatic, and yes I’m going off of zero sleep, but I truly am disgusted that this is where Trump and Republicans have taken our country. Their values are right out in the open for everyone to see, and they aren’t ashamed.

The Senate still hasn't passed the bill, so until Trump signs it, I’ll be doing everything I can to stop this from becoming law. I’m headed home to California for a long week of conversations with our health care leaders to figure out what we’re going to do next.

Don’t let anyone tell you elections don’t matter.
