John,
During the early morning hours, the House passed its grossly mis-named “Big Beautiful Budget,” which is really a multi-trillion-dollar tax handout to millionaires at the expense of middle- and low-income people.
The budget cuts more than $1 trillion from human needs programs over 10 years to pay for this tax gift, including more than $700 billion in cuts to Medicaid that will result in 7.6 million people losing Medicaid coverage over the next 10 years, plus millions more losing health insurance through the Affordable Care Act—roughly 15 million in total.1
This is a horrid budget that will have disastrous ramifications for decades to come.
Send a direct message to your representative now. We’re thanking those lawmakers who stood up against this Billionaire Budget, and registering our disappointment at lawmakers who voted to cut Medicaid and SNAP to pay for more tax breaks for the rich.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office recently reported that this budget reconciliation package would also result in cuts to Medicare, breaking Donald Trump’s campaign promise.2 Nearly 1.4 million low-income people with Medicare—more than 10% of those covered by both Medicare and Medicaid—would lose assistance so they can afford needed care.3 It also terminates Medicare coverage for individuals with lawful immigration status who have worked and paid taxes in the US for decades.
In addition to the draconian cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, the budget will result in $295 billion in cuts to SNAP,4 the largest cut to SNAP in history. Approximately 3 million Americans are at risk of losing SNAP—and millions more will see benefits reduced, making it harder to put food on the table.
This budget is taking resources away from vulnerable communities to pay for handouts for the wealthy. Taking away healthcare and access to nutrition at a time so many of us are struggling with higher costs will only lead to unnecessary suffering and worse health outcomes for the most vulnerable in our society.
Shame on every lawmaker who voted for this.
Join us in thanking members of Congress who voted against this bill and registering our grave disappointment in members who voted for it.
Thank you for all you do,
Deborah Weinstein
