Since Donald Trump returned to office, his administration has been downright hostile to any attempts to protect our environment. He’s making it as easy as possible for polluters, fossil fuel companies, and toxic waste dumpers to make our air dirtier and water less clean. And now, his allies in Congress are following his lead. Senate Republicans overruled the Senate Parliamentarian last night to move forward with a process that would lead to the revocation of California’s clean air standards. Let’s be clear about what this means, John: Our air will be more polluted. Our kids will be less healthy. And our communities will be covered in smog. I’ve been working on this issue since the early days of my career. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, I fought to hold polluters and toxic waste dumpers accountable for violating environmental laws. My work there even led to the creation of the first federal environmental crimes unit in Los Angeles. Since then, I’ve continued fighting to protect our environment — first as a member of California’s state legislature, later as a member of the U.S. House, and now in the United States Senate as a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee. I promise you that I will continue to fight as hard as I can to protect our environment from Trump and his GOP allies. But I need this grassroots team to fight alongside me.
Thank you, Adam
