When you join the Military, you join an organization that is way bigger than yourself. You are part of a force of more than two million people, the same Military that won our nation’s independence, ended slavery, and defeated fascism.

You travel the world. You gain experience. You lead people through some of the most difficult situations imaginable. You do work that has purpose and meaning. The people you serve with become your family.

After you get out, many Veterans struggle to find the same community, the same fellowship, the same purpose. You often struggle with PTSD, depression, anxiety. Far too many take their own lives.

But many find purpose continuing to serve their country out of uniform.

They go on to work at the VA, at the State Department, the National Parks Service, federal law enforcement, or other agencies. Of 3 million federal employees, 30 percent are Veterans. To put a finer point on it — that is 900,000 Veterans serving in government.

And right now, the Trump Administration is literally destroying their lives. Donald Trump is kicking tens of thousands of Veterans out of their jobs like they’re trash. He’s making it way more difficult for Veterans to get the care that they need.

But Trump’s gonna get his.

I made my way into politics after I left the Marine Corps. That gave me my new purpose. At VoteVets, I’m the guy that talks to people when they first decide they want to run for office. I’m super lucky.

Right now, we’ve got a ton of Veterans reaching out. More than ever. And the only problem we have at VoteVets is that we don’t have enough resources to support everybody.

There is never enough, and we could always do more.

That’s why I need you to chip in to VoteVets. So we can make sure the Veterans Trump is hurting today are the ones who win elections next November.
