Hi there, friend.

I want to share something personal that’s been on my mind since my recent interview with LGBTQ Nation.

Years ago, when I was just starting out as a meteorologist in East Texas, I lost my job for being gay. Management told me flat out that, “We can’t have a gay meteorologist at channel 7.”

That moment could’ve broken me. And to be honest, for a while, it almost did.

What I didn’t know back then -- when I was scared and closeted and jobless -- is that one day, I’d be serving my hometown in Congress. Openly. Proudly. Fighting for kids who feel like they don’t belong, and for working people who’ve been told to sit down or stay silent just for being who they are.

As I said in that interview: being fired for who I am gave me clarity. It gave me purpose and made me a stronger advocate.

And let’s be honest: that fight is far from over. Right now, anti-LGBTQ extremists are pushing their agenda in state legislatures and in Congress. Under Speaker Mike Johnson – the most anti-LGBTQ Speaker in modern history – our rights are under attack in ways we haven’t seen in decades.

But here's the truth: I’m still standing. We’re still standing. And I’m going to keep fighting, not just as a gay man, but as your representative, your neighbor, and your advocate.

If you believe in building a country where no one should lose their job for being who they are, chip in $3 today to support our campaign:
