As the first openly LGBTQ+ person to represent Washington in Congress, I carry our community’s stories, struggles, and hopes with me every single day.

I stood alongside my colleagues in the Congressional Equality Caucus to reintroduce the Equality Act—landmark legislation that would guarantee nationwide protections for LGBTQ+ Americans in housing, employment, education, public accommodations, and more.
