If you haven’t heard, Republicans in Congress are in the process of making a massive cut to Medicaid.
Even as Trump and his subservient Republicans continue pretending that they don’t want to cut Medicaid, their own budget blueprint targets over $800 billion in cuts to the program.
Medicaid covers nearly half of all births in Rhode Island. It provides nursing home care for seniors, mental health care, and addiction treatment – so that people can get the care they need to live healthy, productive lives.
These cuts would have a massive effect on our health care system that will reach far beyond the people actually on Medicaid. Hospitals will shutter. States will be forced to slash other investments to keep their health care systems from crumbling.
So why would Republicans want to cause all this pain and destruction for the American people? Well, it's all to fund tax breaks for their billionaire friends.
Their plan would rip health care away from the people who can least afford it to line the pockets of the ultra-wealthy class that funds the Republican dark money machine. Once again, it all comes back to Republicans serving the rich at the expense of everyone else.
Please know I will do everything in my power to stop the Trump plan and to protect Medicaid for the millions of people who depend on it. I hope you’ll support my work to defend health care access for all.
