Washington, D.C. | www.mpac.org | May 20, 2025 — As Israel escalates its genocidal siege on Gaza, over two million Palestinians are facing engineered mass starvation. Humanitarian corridors have been systematically destroyed, aid convoys remain blocked, and entire families are buried beneath the rubble. International agencies, including the World Food Programme and UNICEF, have confirmed that Gaza is now experiencing the highest levels of food insecurity ever recorded. Mothers are mixing animal feed with water to feed their children. Parents are going days without eating. Malnourished newborns are dying in powerless hospital incubators with no access to formula or basic care.
In response to this unfolding humanitarian catastrophe, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) is issuing two urgent calls to action: first, to International Governments, the Trump Administration, and U.S. policymakers to immediately impose sanctions and suspend military aid on Israel and restore unfettered humanitarian access to Gaza; and second, to the American public to raise their voices, pressure elected officials, and demand an end to the blockade and U.S. complicity.
The ongoing siege, combined with systematic attacks on infrastructure and the deliberate obstruction of aid, constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law. These actions are not only morally indefensible but also clear breaches of the Geneva Conventions.
International Leadership is Possible—The United Kingdom Has Set a Precedent
MPAC commends the United Kingdom for its recent decision to suspend free trade agreement negotiations with Israel, citing Israel’s failure to comply with international law. This marks a necessary shift toward accountability, and other global powers must follow suit.
We call on the United States, France, Canada, and fellow G7 nations to take the following actions without delay:
Impose sanctions on the Israeli government and military officials responsible for war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law;
Suspend military assistance and weapons transfers that are being used to enforce the blockade and target civilian populations;
Demand full and unconditional humanitarian access to Gaza, including the restoration of aid corridors and medical support infrastructure;
Enforce international accountability mechanisms, including arms embargoes and human rights-based trade policies.
The United States, as Israel’s principal military and diplomatic backer, has a heightened obligation to ensure that its support is not enabling mass atrocities. Continued aid absent accountability undermines the very principles of international law and human rights the U.S. claims to defend.
To the American People: Your Voice is Urgently Needed
Now is the time for Americans of conscience to speak out and act. If you are outraged by the images from Gaza—of starving children, destroyed hospitals, and grieving families then your voice must be part of the response. MPAC urges all members of the public, regardless of political affiliation, faith, or background to take immediate action:
Call your U.S. Senators and urge them to support Senator Peter Welch’s resolution, which calls on the Trump Administration to use all diplomatic tools at its disposal to bring an end to the blockade and allow the full restoration of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Engage in peaceful protest, public education, and community organizing to demand that U.S. foreign policy reflect our nation’s legal and moral obligations.
Use your platforms in civic, academic, religious, and professional spaces to advocate for an end to the siege and the restoration of life-saving aid.
The deliberate starvation of civilians, destruction of life-saving medical infrastructure, and the obstruction of humanitarian relief in Gaza require more than expressions of concern and empty threats. They require decisive action. This is a defining moment for the United States and International Governments across the globe, a test of whether international law and human rights are upheld only in rhetoric or defended in practice. The ongoing siege is not only a humanitarian catastrophe but a legal and moral failure.
The Muslim Public Affairs calls on the American public to take a stand. The path to justice begins with action. Contact your U.S. Senator today through MPAC’s Advocacy Center and demand they support Senator Peter Welch’s resolution—demand an end to the blockade and complete restoration of humanitarian access.
This is not a moment for neutrality or silence. It is a test of conscience. Future generations will ask where we stood when an entire population was starved, silenced, and slaughtered. The choices made today will define the moral character of this generation.
Take Action. Speak Up. Stand For Justice and Humanity.
