These insights remain relevant to the current moment.
Community corner
Evidence for Action (E4A), a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will award up to $5 million in research grants to support actionable, solutions-oriented health equity research through two types of funding: rapid-response research awards to support early- to midcareer health equity researchers whose work has been interrupted by federal funding shifts (brief proposals due May 28) and new research support that will fund community-driven research that uplifts the knowledge, expertise, and power of Indigenous and other historically marginalized communities of color to develop or test solutions that advance racial and Indigenous health equity (brief proposals due July 16).

Systems for Action (S4A), a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, has released a new funding opportunity entitled Community-Led Systems Research to Address Systemic Racism. The goal is to produce actionable evidence about how to help medical, social, and public health systems work together to address systemic racism. S4A seeks community-based nonprofits, government agencies, and tribal organizations committed to conducting rigorous, equitable research to lead these one-year pilot studies in partnership with research institutions. Proposals are due Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. (ET).
