Memorial Day Weekend is just around the corner - and so
is the unofficial start of summer! You may have long-awaited plans
with relatives and loved ones. For those facing Alzheimer's or other
dementia and their caregivers, it can be extremely difficult to remain
active and engaged with family and friends. But if you know someone
living with this disease, there are many ways that you can connect
with them:

* Take a walk together outside to enjoy the fresh air.
* Go to the mall and take a stroll indoors.
* Do seated exercises at home.
* Dance together to favorite music.
* Garden or do other routine activities that you both enjoy.

Many activities can be modified to the person's ability. In
addition to enhancing quality of life, activities can reduce behaviors
like wandering or agitation. If you need more support in helping a
loved one who's been affected by Alzheimer's, we are available at any
time through our free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900), as well as our
in-person and online support groups and resources at alz.org.

Providing this kind of care and support is just one part of
our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia
- by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and
early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

You're an important member of our community, so I'm sure you
know how urgent our mission is. If you've been waiting for the perfect
time to take the next step in your commitment, it's today. It's
crucial we raise every dollar during this one-week challenge to
continue our priorities in research, care and support. Please make
your first gift now, before our One-Week Match Challenge is over, so
you can double your impact.

No matter how much you choose to give, your contribution will
be gratefully received and immediately put to work helping the over 7
million Americans living with Alzheimer's and their nearly 12 million
caregivers.

This opportunity is possible thanks to Dr. Peter B.
Landecker, who has pledged to match every gift received - up to
$100,000 - if we raise the same amount by midnight on May 22.
Made in memory of his mother, Mildred Landecker, a longtime friend and
supporter of the Alzheimer's Association, his gift will support our
International Research Grant Program to fund investigations to advance
our understanding of Alzheimer's, identify potential treatment
strategies and improve care for people living with dementia.
