Trump administration charges congresswoman over ICE oversight visit

  • Acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba — a former personal lawyer to President Donald Trump — announced charges against Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) over a clash between lawmakers and ICE agents at a detention center near Newark earlier this month.

  • McIver is calling the move “purely political.” Marc explains how this is the most dangerous step so far in Trump’s crusade to weaponize the federal government against his political enemies.

Why Trump is the “most corrupt” president ever

  • Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio) joined Marc to discuss why Trump is the most corrupt president ever, how the Republican’s budget would gut healthcare for millions and how to remove extremism from Congress.

The survival of democracy depends on our willingness to fight

  • The future of our democracy does not rest within the Republican Party. It will not reform itself as long as Trump is in charge. Meanwhile, the GOP’s assaults on democracy will continue to escalate. It will spare no expense, adhere to no norm and will not feel bound by any legal principle standing in its way. But what about us?

So then how do we stand up to Trump?

  • Bruce Springsteen, who is 75 and has taken part in American political and social protests for nearly half a century, spoke more directly than any major entertainment figure has since Trump’s inauguration, calling the current administration “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.” In a guest op-ed, Tom Watson breaks down the takeaways from Springsteen’s words.

The latest in Maine’s voter ID initiative language challenge

  • Democratic committees and two voters filed a motion to intervene in an anti-voting lawsuit challenging the language of a voter ID ballot initiative in Maine. Supporters of the voter ID initiative claim the ballot question is misleading and biased against the measure.

  • Democrats are seeking to defend the ballot question and ensure Maine voters are aware of harmful effects of the voter ID initiative.
