You might remember a few months ago, Trump’s Justice Department threatened me for speaking out against Elon Musk. Well, now the Trump administration just issued its first criminal charges against a Democatic Member of Congress, my friend and colleague LaMonica McIver of New Jersey, who was just doing her job.
Congresswoman McIver was conducting oversight at an ICE facility in her district, and trying to hold this Administration accountable. Now, she’s bern targeted and charged with a criminal offense - for performing oversight. These charges are purely political and they’re a flashing red light for our democracy.
We all must stand up to an Administration that weaponizes law enforcement to politically persecute its opponents—before it's too late.

After Trump’s Justice Department sent me a letter threatening legal action for hurting Elon’s feelings, we knew this was just the beginning. Now, they are actually going to ARREST a Democratic Congresswoman for exercising her legal oversight authority on an Ice Detention Center.
Just as you stood with me when I was threatened, I hope you will stand with LaMonica. She is an incredible new Member of Congress who is doing the good work for us in Newark, New Jersey, and we have to make sure she is supported against these outrageous attacks and has the necessary funding to fight back in court.
