The U.S. House of Representatives is back in session for another week of committee hearings, legislative votes, and floor activity. For more information on what I'm working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead In honor of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, the U.S. House of Representatives will consider several pieces of legislation to honor, support, and empower our nation’s veterans. Yesterday, I supported bills that expand veterans’ resources, improve accessibility at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for disabled veterans, and simplify forms for veterans’ claims. Our veterans put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms, and they deserve the utmost gratitude from our nation. I am deeply grateful for the service of the men and women of our Armed Forces and am praying for families whose loved ones paid the ultimate price in service. House Republicans are continuing to work around the clock to advance President Trump’s legislative agenda. We met with the President earlier this morning, and we all agree—our Republican majority must prevent tax hikes from hitting every American family next January. House Republicans are continuing to work around the clock to advance President Trump’s legislative agenda and prevent tax hikes from hitting every American family next January. Over the past few weeks, committees in the U.S. House of Representatives have worked tirelessly to identify savings for American taxpayers and invest in our national security. The House Budget Committee advanced the One Big Beautiful Bill Act over the weekend, getting the House one step closer to a full vote on the House floor. I am hopeful the legislation will advance through the Rules Committee without delay, and I look forward to supporting its passage on the House floor. Meetings in the Office National Association of Landscape Professionals National FFA Officers National Grocers Association J-Six Farms Motorcycle Riders Foundation American Council of Engineering Companies of Kansas American Feed Industry Association Strengthening the Farm Safety Net and Reforming SNAP I voted to advance the House Agriculture Committee’s portion of the budget reconciliation package. This proposal cuts $295 billion in wasteful and fraudulent spending while making long-overdue investments to support farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers in the Big First and across rural America. Our bill strengthens the farm safety net by investing $60 billion for expanded crop insurance, updating reference prices, funding trade promotion programs that reverse the agricultural trade deficit left by the Biden Administration, and supporting livestock biosecurity and land-grant universities like Kansas State. It also restores integrity to SNAP by closing loopholes and making sure that able-bodied adults are either working or volunteering in order to receive benefits. House Republicans are committed to ensuring our programs help the most vulnerable Americans, slashing wasteful, fraudulent, and abusive spending, and preventing American families from seeing a $2,200 tax increase next January. That’s what this is all about, and that’s what 77 million Americans endorsed last November. Monitoring Severe Weather Audrey and I are devastated by the damage in Reno, Kiowa, and Gove counties following this weekend’s tornadoes. My team and I are in touch with local authorities and stand ready to assist to ensure they have the necessary resources for the storm’s aftermath. As severe weather continues to impact Kansas, please stay alert, be prepared, and remain safe. Audrey and I are praying for the communities who have been impacted so far and encourage everyone to stay tuned to local authorities for the most up-to-date information. Celebrating National Police Week Last week, our nation celebrated National Police Week, a time to honor the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities and uphold the rule of law. In the Big First and across the country, law enforcement officers run toward danger when others run away. They serve with courage, dedication, and a deep commitment to their communities, often in the face of growing hostility and policies that make their jobs more difficult. I unapologetically stand with the men and women in blue. I oppose any effort to defund, demoralize, or dismantle the agencies that keep our streets safe. This week, and every week, I’m grateful for the police officers, Border Patrol agents, sheriffs, state troopers, drug enforcement agents, correction officers, and others in uniform who work tirelessly to serve our nation and keep our communities safe. America is stronger because of their serrvice. Supporting American Manufacturers I attended Construction on the National Mall, joining leaders from companies including John Deere, Caterpillar, and Kubota to see the best of American construction, engineering, and manufacturing in our nation's capital. Manufacturing and agriculture are two pillars of the Kansas economy, and I was excited to see some of the cutting-edge equipment and new technologies that are shaping the future of the equipment industry. Events like Construction on the Mall provide an opportunity to show policymakers, legislators, and stakeholders some of the best of American innovation and development. I’m grateful for the Association of Equipment Manufactures, their advocacy for rural America, and their work to ensure our nation remains a leader in building and feeding the world. You can find helpful information and request services anytime at mann.house.gov, or feel free to call one of my offices in Washington, Manhattan, or Dodge City. My team and I are here to serve you. Constituent Services Meetings in D.C. Independent Community Bankers Association Community banks are essential partners for rural communities across the Big First. I met with Kansans from the Independent Community Bankers of America to discuss the need for a five-year Farm Bill that expands the farm safety net, increases USDA loan limits, and strengthens crop insurance. We also spoke about the ACRE Act, a bill I cosponsor, which ensures rural lenders aren’t penalized for supporting farm families. I appreciated the chance to hear directly from Kansas bankers about the challenges they’re facing and the policies that matter most to their customers. MyLand Soil health is foundational to productive agriculture and long-term sustainability, and companies like MyLand are exploring innovative ways to support both. I met with their team to learn more about their regenerative agriculture technology, which uses live native microalgae to improve soil quality, conserve water, and increase crop yields, all without requiring farmers to change their crops or equipment. It’s encouraging to see farmer-first solutions that combine economic value with environmental stewardship. Thanks for meeting with me.     Visiting Washington, D.C.?
