Oppose cuts to Medicaid and SNAP that are moving through the House.

Dear John,

Republican leaders in Congress are rushing to vote this week on a bill that robs women, children, and families of their health care, food, and education—while giving a huge tax handout to billionaires. They have been negotiating behind closed doors for months, and only released their full plan last week. In it, Republican leaders in Congress are planning to gut Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential services that help millions of families meet their basic needs.

Tell Congress: Vote NO on the Budget Reconciliation Bill

We won’t let them rob women, children, and families to give more tax cuts to billionaires.

TAKE ACTION

For months, you have been joining us to tell Congress that we want to see investments in health care, nutrition programs, and education, not more giveaways to billionaires. Instead, the current House package would:

  • Rip Medicaid and nutrition assistance away from millions of people,
  • Ban gender-affirming care for youth and for many adults enrolled in Medicaid,
  • “Defund” Planned Parenthood clinics that provide essential reproductive care to 2 million patients a year,
  • Punish states that use their own state dollars to expand Medicaid coverage to some immigrants,
  • Enact a small, temporary expansion of the Child Tax Credit (CTC) that doesn’t reach the lowest-income families who need it most and excludes even more immigrant families from the credit entirely,
  • Strip funding from Pell Grants that 7 million students from families with low incomes use to help pay for higher education, and
  • Provide huge new tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.

We can't let these cruel and unnecessary cuts happen. Tell Congress to vote no on any bill that devastates basic needs programs for women, children, people with disabilities, seniors with low incomes, and other people who need support.

In solidarity,
