We are stronger with immigrants. Stop deportations now!

Dear Friend,

Our communities are stronger with immigrants. Immigrants are neighbors, workers, students, business owners, and friends. But yesterday, the Supreme Court stripped away the immigration status of 350,000 people. It sided with the Trump administration in a case that ended the work permits and removed protections from deportation for 350,000 Venezuelans.

This is the latest example of how the U.S. government is expanding the machinery of detention and deportation, tearing families and communities apart. In just four months, the administration has ended the legal status of more than one million people.

Tell Congress and the Trump administration: We are stronger with immigrants. Stop deportations now. [link removed]

We have a moral responsibility to respond and to protect our communities from harm. For over 100 years, AFSC has paved the way for political and social movements to achieve real impact. This work is rooted in our Quaker values: we believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person and a just and peaceful world for all. People come to the United States to find work, to feed their families, to protect the ones they love. There is room for everyone here.

That’s why I’m writing to you again to ask you to raise your voice. Tell Congress and the Department of Homeland Security to stop expanding detention centers and deportation. Join thousands of AFSC supporters like you who have already taken action. Together we can ensure everyone is treated with fairness and dignity.

Lift your voice today: Our communities are stronger with immigrants. Stop detention and deportations! [link removed]

In peace,

Amy Gottlieb
