Here’s what’s happening on Capitol Hill, John:

Republicans in the House spent the whole weekend in secret meetings putting together a budget that would amount to one of the largest transfers of wealth from the poor to the rich in our lifetime.

They’re getting ready to take health care away from 14 million people to give a few thousand billionaires and millionaires a tax break.

14 million people — that’s folks of every age, from children to seniors — are going to have to give up their doctor, their medication, their care, so guys like Elon Musk get richer. So they can afford another yacht, another jet, another house.

People who have next to nothing are going to lose what very little they have to enrich the most wealthy people on earth.

I bet most of the MAGA fanatics lining up to vote for this budget don’t know what it was like to go hungry as a kid. To sleep on the floor because you couldn’t afford a bed. To watch your mom work night and day trying to make ends meet. To take a job, as a kid, to help put food on the table.

I do.

And I am NEVER going to support a budget that puts the kids growing up like I did last, and guys like Elon Musk first. No chance.

I’m going to fight this with everything I’ve got.

That’s a promise.
