“There are some places too special and too amazing and too ecologically and culturally significant to allow them to be permanently despoiled by oil and gas.”
John, that’s what SEEC Member and Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee Rep. Jared Huffman (CA-2) said about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Republicans want to “drill, baby, drill” without so much as a second thought of the harm it’ll do to global temperature rises and local endangered species. Just last week, House Republicans put forward a plan to pad polluters’ pockets by dramatically expanding oil and gas development in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, while simultaneously allowing wealthy corporations to pay for legal immunity for the pollution they cause.
Rep. Huffman is leading the charge against this reckless plan. In addition to fighting back against this plan in the Natural Resources Committee, he has also reintroduced the Arctic Refuge Protection Act – legislation that would protect the region from all future incursions.
