[May is Mental Health Awareness Month]([link removed])
For our new campaign, [In This Together: Building Emotional Resilience in Ourselves and Our Communities]([link removed]), AFSP Chief Medical Officer Dr. Christine Yu Moutier takes a deep dive into mental health best practices for our [video series exploring important aspects of resilience]([link removed]), including how we’re each affected by hard times, the power of paying attention to our breath, the value of inviting feedback and open communication from others, and more.
You can learn even more about resilience by visiting our ["Building Resilience" webpage]([link removed]), which outlines the many different forms of resilience, how they can each support mental wellness and suicide prevention, and specific actions you can take to enhance resilience in yourself and your communities.
Throughout May, we’re highlighting resources and events to help you build resilience, and learn how others are doing the same. Here are just a few ways you can join us in recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month:
- May 24 & 25 –– In a new episode of Audacy’s I’m Listening podcast series, created in partnership with AFSP, our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Moutier joins Katie Neal, host of radio show Katie & Company, for a discussion about game-changing strategies that encourage personal resilience, and the ways we can each support –– and find support within –– our communities. The episode will air on local stations across the U.S. on May 24 and 25. Stay tuned for more information!
- #RealConvo Concert With Jonah Marais — In the latest [#RealConvo Concert]([link removed]) combining interview and musical performance, AFSP Director of Writing and Entertainment Outreach Brett Wean was joined by musician Jonah Marais of the renowned band Why Don’t We. Marais is now a solo artist featured in Amazon's 2025 Artists to Watch campaign, and opens up about his own mental health journey and how he finds resilience.
- Strong Talk With Ray Stenglein –– The latest episode of AFSP’s [Strong Talk podcast]([link removed]), “Building a Path to Suicide Prevention in the Construction Industry,” is now available. This episode features AFSP Vice President for Health Equity and Engagement Victor (Vic) Armstrong, MSW, in conversation with AFSP Minnesota Chapter volunteer Ray Stenglein about mental health and suicide prevention in the construction industry.
