Dear Friend,

You’ve been calling. You’ve been writing, You’ve been sharing your
stories. And you’ve been speaking out in a million ways that have inspired
us with your perseverance and dedication to making our country better for
our children and communities.

And now the big, awful, terrible, totally unnecessary Republican tax and
budget bill (aka the reconciliation bill) is going to be voted on this
week and we need you to TAKE ACTION NOW!!!

[ [link removed] ]***Sign our letter telling your U.S. House Representative to VOTE NO on
the Republican tax and budget bill and instead prioritize families and our
economy over billionaires.

Make no mistake–this bill is a dumpster fire of awfulness! It will take
away the tools and opportunities that tens of millions of families use to
build good lives. Not to mention the harm it will cause to our economy,
small businesses, communities, and schools.

Here is just a small amount of the harm that Republicans in the House are
proposing and will be voted on in the next few days:

* Major cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and
increases red tape through bigger paperwork requirements in order to
access health care. The cuts to Medicaid and added red tape in this
bill, along with letting the enhanced ACA premium tax credits expire,
will result in 13.7 million Americans losing their health insurance.
This will not only devastate the 24 million women and 40 million
children enrolled in Medicaid, but also our state budgets and the
health care systems we ALL depend on. [1]

* Republicans have also proposed cutting more than $300 billion from
SNAP, the most signficant cut in history to the nation’s largest
nutrition assistance program, leading to roughly 3 million people
losing SNAP entirely at a time when more families are finding it
difficult to pay for rising grocery prices. Additionally, the proposal
would force burdensome paperwork requirements disguised as work
requirements on parents with children over the age of 7 and older
Americans, putting millions at risk of losing essential food
assistance by making the program more difficult to access and
navigate. [ [link removed] ]

* Hidden in the bill is a big hit on public schools. While public
schools are seeing a funding cut, Republicans still want to give away
$5 billion dollars for private school vouchers. These are being paid
for by cuts to funding of public schools, which are the only schools
available in many areas and are sorely underfunded. [ [link removed] ]

* As the bill cuts Medicaid, SNAP, and elder and child care, it also
gives the Trump administration nearly a blank check to commit human
rights abuses against immigrants. The bill takes away critical
protections for immigrant children and contains a massive increase in
funding for family separation, child detention, sending people to
prisons in foreign countries without due process, , and, of course,
funding to build a border wall. [ [link removed] ]

* And all of this is done to give trillions of dollars in tax cuts to
billionaires and mega-corporations! This tax bill would give
millionaires a $68,000 tax cut and give households in the top 0.1
percent a $300,000 tax cut while raising taxes or doing nothing for 33
million working-class households.[ [link removed] ]

[2]***SIGN our letter now saying “Vote NO” on all the above awfulness!

We know that what Republican leadership is trying to do is stressful and
discouraging, but your voices are working. And we have proof of our power
together: We’ve significantly slowed down this bill by making Republican
cuts to health care and nutrition programs wildly unpopular. [ [link removed] ] And the
U.S. Senate has already said, even if this bill passes the House, it will
be unacceptable in the Senate—leading one Senate Republican to call the
bill “the Titanic”! [ [link removed] ] All accounts point to the Senate having to start
over from scratch writing a new bill. Speaking out is working! Our outrage
is working! You standing up for your families is working!

[3]Now we need to keep up the pressure! Make sure to sign our letter to
your U.S. Representatives and then forward this email to your friends and
family.

Together we will stop this awfulness in its tracks!

P.S. We also want to drive lots of calls to the House before the vote.
[4]Can you make a quick call to your Representative and tell them to vote
no?
