Hi John,
Today marks the first step in
repairing the UK - EU relationship, bringing down costs and restoring
opportunities for British citizens.
Now the government must
deliver on the promise of this historic moment. By building
on this agreement, facing down those who did the UK so much damage and
working with our closest neighbours and allies in Europe, Keir Starmer
can cement his reputation as the Prime Minister who does what is best
for Britain.

What does the deal contain?
At today's summit, the UK and EU
struck a new deal - one that begins to fix the damage done by Boris
Johnson's botched Brexit agreement. And 42 of the 114
fixes we proposed in our
Trading Our Way to
Prosperity roadmap have
now been adopted.
Here’s what that means for people
and businesses across the UK:
-
Easier travel:
British holidaymakers will be able to skip queues at border control
using EU eGates (and bring their pets on holiday with
them).
-
Youth opportunities:
A new youth mobility scheme and re-entry to student exchange programme
Erasmus+ is on the horizon.
-
Cheaper food: Red
tape is being cut, keeping food standards high, helping lower food
prices and reducing waste.
-
Working in Europe:
Progress is being made on recognising professional qualifications and
supporting artists and business travellers.
-
A Security and Defence Partnership: Support for Ukraine, access to the EU's
€150 billion defence fund, and deeper cooperation on crime and
pandemic preparedness.
-
Lower bills: Energy
market cooperation that could cut household costs.

This deal isn’t perfect by any
means, but it’s progress—and it's proof that change is possible,
particularly when we're loud enough. 95,000 of you cared
enough about making progress at today's summit that you wrote to your
MP, sent a letter to EU Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds, or donated to
push this work further over the last eight weeks.
It's down to you that, after nine
years of Brexit turmoil, we are finally on a better path.
I cannot thank you
enough.
