My name is Maria Tenenbaum, and I’m the new Deputy Finance Director at the Minnesota DFL. We’ll be working together a lot, so I wanted to reach out and introduce myself.

I was born and raised in Minnesota after my family immigrated to this incredible state from Ukraine. I’ve been interested in politics from a very early age, and I pursued that passion at the University of Minnesota, where I studied Political Science.

I got my start in public service as an intern with the Minnesota DFL House Caucus. I worked my way up over the past two and a half years and eventually had the opportunity to serve as Deputy Finance Director.

As a proud Gen Zer, I’m deeply motivated to fight for the values that matter to my generation, such as affordable education, housing, and reproductive rights. Taking on this new role with the DFL felt like the most effective way to make a real difference in my community and uphold the values I believe in.

The DFL has worked hard to keep Minnesota blue since 1976, but our party is facing unprecedented challenges. Donald Trump and his MAGA allies are determined to roll back Minnesotans’ rights, undermine our democracy, and push their extreme agenda on us.

That’s why I’m kicking off my role with a fundraising push. To ensure that our DFL leaders have the resources they need to keep up the fight against Trump, we need to raise $30,000 by this Friday, May 23.
