It’s a familiar spectacle.

You’ve seen it at Cabinet meetings.

You’ve seen it in TV interviews.

You’ve seen it in front of Congress.

Donald Trump’s subordinates try to stay in his good graces by going on
camera and lavishing him with over-the-top compliments. They lay it on
thick, and this strategy often works out for them — after all, Trump’s
primal hunger for praise is insatiable.

But this recent example was beyond ridiculous.

It came from RFK Jr., the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Normally, he’s busy firing experts and discrediting vaccines instead of
addressing deadly measles and bird flu outbreaks.

But last week, he stood next to Donald Trump at the White House and
declared:

“There's writers like Elizabeth Warren or Robert Reich who are saying that
President Trump is on the side of the oligarchs. There has never been a
president more willing to stand up to the oligarchs than President Donald
Trump."

Where to begin…

Do YOU
agree with RFK Jr. that Donald Trump stands up to oligarchs?

Do any of these actions sound like confronting the rich and powerful
figures who’ve rigged the rules of our economy to make themselves richer
and more powerful?

* Hosting million-dollar dinners between Big Pharma CEOs and their
regulator RFK Jr.
* Turning the White House into a Tesla dealership
* Working to deliver a giant tax handout to his “rich as hell” donors
* Gutting agencies and firing staff that were investigating the
companies of his co-president, Elon Musk, a.k.a. the richest man in
the world
* Nominating billionaires to lead the Departments of the Treasury,
Commerce, Education, and the Interior. And the Small Business
Administration. And NASA.
* Inviting some of the richest men in the world — Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos,
and Mark Zuckerberg — to enjoy prime seating at his inauguration,
right beside family members and in front of cabinet nominees.
* Promoting a $5 million dollar “gold card” offering, inviting the
wealthy to buy access to US citizenship.
* His son opening an invitation-only club in DC — called “the Executive
Branch” — to host business and tech moguls who are looking schmooze
with advisers and cabinet members.

I didn’t think so.

Trump and his administration have paved the way for the president, his top
officials, and his billionaire buddies to personally feed at the trough of
government corruption.

RFK Jr. won’t be able to stop me from calling out the Trump
administration’s corruption.

I’ve proposed the most ambitious set of anti-corruption reforms since
Watergate — including banning members of Congress, presidents, and senior
administration officials from owning or trading individual stocks;
slamming shut the revolving door between government and big businesses;
and ending lobbying as we know it.

And I’m working to get the rich to pay a fair share in taxes so we can
fund opportunity for all — where every kid can get a great public
education, every family can find a decent place to live that doesn’t break
the bank, every parent can find quality affordable child care, and no one
goes broke because they got sick.

Taxing the rich, rooting out corruption — that’s what it actually looks
like to stand up to oligarchs.
