John,
Thanks to the leadership of LGBTQ+ state legislators, Texas is taking a historic step forward! Out State Representative Venton Jones has co-authored a bill to repeal the state’s outdated and discriminatory ban on “homosexual conduct.” He’s joined by fellow out Representative Jolanda Jones and co-sponsor Representative Ann Johnson, both champions for equality in the Texas House.
Now, the bill heads to the Texas Senate — where Senator Molly Cook, the first out LGBTQ+ person ever elected to the chamber, is stepping up as a co-sponsor.
This moment is more than a policy win — it’s proof of what happens when LGBTQ+ leaders are at the table. They don’t just represent us — they rewrite the rules to protect us. Join us in sending these amazing LGBTQ+ leaders a HUGE congratulations on making history in Texas!
This is exactly what LGBTQ+ Victory Institute fights for every day. Because when LGBTQ+ voices are at the tables of power, they make real change for our community. We’re beyond proud to support and train LGBTQ+ leaders like Rep. Jones, Rep. Jones, Rep. Johnson and Senator Cook as they make bold, bipartisan progress toward equality. Representation matters, and our leaders are making it count.
There are lots of more fights to win, and we're going to have their backs. Add your name today and let them know that you're celebrating this win!
Thanks for being part of the fight,
Sarah LeDonne
