John,
Last week, during a House hearing on the Republicans' sweeping Medicaid cuts, I decided to lend my time to someone my MAGA colleagues didn't want to hear from: My friend Carla – the daughter of WWII veteran and a seven-year lung cancer survivor whose life was saved by Medicaid.
Carla wasn't on a recording. I dialed her into the hearing so the GOP members of our committee could hear her story live and directly on the phone. But before she could say more than a few words, one of my Republican colleagues forced the call to end.
John, Republicans aren't just gutting Medicaid – they're trying to shut up the very people their actions will harm. They know exactly what their plan will do: strip health care from cancer survivors, working families, the elderly, and the most vulnerable among us. They know it will cost lives – and they're doing everything they can to avoid being held accountable.
And for what? To pay for more tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations.
Cowards.
This bill will threaten lives so the powerful can keep getting richer.
If you're with me, John, please rush a donation today to help protect Medicaid and hold Republicans responsible. [[link removed]]

Growing up in Fort Worth’s historic Como neighborhood, I used to dream about opportunities that would allow me a chance to experience things that filled my imagination; about American heroes and fascinating places in our country. I dreamed that I could one day make a difference in the lives of my friends and neighbors. It was that simple goal that eventually led me to Washington and the halls of Congress.
For over a decade, I have been humbled by the ongoing support and encouragement of the community that raised me. Today, I’m asking for it again.
