SHE FOUND PURPOSE AFTER MORE THAN 40 YEARS BEHIND BARS
“When you come to prison, everything you have is stripped from you. ... It’s been my faith in the Lord that’s kept me. I could not have done a single day in prison without God in my life.”
—Helen,
Prison Fellowship® Academy graduate
Growing up, Helen was taught by her parents about God, but it was in prison where she really began crying out to Him for strength.
She was 37 when she was sentenced to life. Everything she had known was taken from her, and she demanded of God, “What is the purpose behind all these years?”
When Helen first heard about Prison Fellowship Academy®, a yearlong program, she was drawn in by the biblically based curriculum and its focus on Values of Good Citizenship. She knew she needed to be part of the next class.
The program helped unburden her of years of pain, loss, and grief.
Recently, she graduated from the Academy! Watch Helen share a message of encouragement with her fellow graduates in our new video!
Men and women in prison are looking for hope. And nothing provides hope like the living Word of God. The demand for Bibles and Christian content is at an all-time high. Will you help us meet the need? Please give generously today.
For moms behind bars, being separated from their children can be difficult. So at a recent Prison Fellowship Angel Tree® event, moms, grandmothers, kids, and grandkids were able to gather together, some meeting for the first time. See the heartwarming reunions that took place inside prison walls.
