Dear John,
May is Bike Month, and we’re excited to celebrate with you! The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) is hostingevents citywide ([link removed]) to encourage cycling, promote safety, and uplift New York’s growing bike culture.
As biking becomes more popular, our infrastructure must keep up. This month, we’re doubling down on our commitment to making cycling safe and accessible for all New Yorkers—through expanded bike lanes, better education, and support for everyone who shares our streets, including pedestrians, drivers, and delivery workers.
Brush up on biking laws and best practices at a virtual Rules of the Road Class ([link removed]) on Wednesday, May 28th, from 6:30 PM to 8 PM. It’s a great resource whether you’re a new rider or just need a refresher!
Join us for Bike Day in Prospect Park on Saturday, May 31st, from 2–5 PM at the Bartel Pritchard Square Entrance (15th Street and Prospect Park West)!
Hosted by Park Slope Civic Council, Bike New York, and Prospect Park Alliance, this family-friendly, educational event welcomes everyone—from first-time riders and daily commuters to delivery workers, parents, cycling enthusiasts, and even those who’ve never ridden a bike before. We’ll be there too!
Expect a full afternoon of activities, including:
* Children’s helmets and bike light giveaways (while supplies last)
* Free minor bicycle repairs
* Guided beginner rides & learn-to-ride workshops for kids (registration required)
* NYC bicycle maps & info for delivery workers
* Conversations on bike infrastructure, safety protocols, and cyclist etiquette
* Art projects for kids
* Adult group rides
…and much more!
Register and find full details of Eventbrite ([link removed]) . Want to volunteer or donate helmets or bike lights? Email:
