National Police Week
National Police Week is a time to pause and honor the brave men and women of law enforcement for their courage, dedication, and sacrifice in protecting and serving our communities. Without hesitation, these heroes answer the call and run toward danger to keep Americans safe.
I met with Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare, Sheriff Bill Waybourn, and Deputy Todd Tipton in my D.C. office to discuss my support for our law enforcement heroes. Last year, Deputy Tipton miraculously survived after being shot three times in the line of duty. It was an honor to hear his story and express my gratitude for his service.
In Congress, I will always stand for those who put their lives on the line to keep our families, children, and nation safe, voting at every opportunity to uplift our men and women in blue. Today and every day, we remember the fallen and stand with those who continue to serve today.
Border Czar Tom Homan
Under Border Czar Tom Homan, promises made are promises kept. In just four months, Republicans have ushered in the most secure border in modern American history. Illegal encounters are at an all time low, “gotaways” are down by 99%, and President Trump is cracking down on terrorists, cartel members, drug smugglers, and human traffickers. Law and order is back. We will continue the fight to Make America Safe Again.
House Committee on Small Business
Across the US, there are an estimated 831,000 franchise businesses, employing nearly 9 million workers, and generating close to $900 billion in revenue. When franchises thrive, the American economy thrives too. I led a hearing focused on the experiences of franchisors and franchisees to examine their critical role in our economy and in the small business ecosystem. As Chairman, I am committed to ensuring generations of Americans have the chance to achieve the American Dream. Watch my opening remarks here.
Financial Services Committee
This week’s subcommittee hearing focused on enhancing competition and shaping the future of our banking systems. From capital challenges to navigating a constantly changing regulatory environment, starting a new bank has only become more and more difficult. De novo banks play an important role in our financial system, they serve as lifelines for small businesses, provide relationship-based lending to rural areas, and ensure that local economies aren’t left behind. Without meaningful reform, we risk losing these community-driven lenders that many rely on. Watch my line of questioning here.
In Case You Missed It!
Sunday, I joined Fox News live on Fox Report to discuss President Trump’s America-First trade negotiations. For too long, America has been taken advantage of, but Trump’s trade strategies to level the playing field are working, and countries are coming to the table. American businesses, workers, and farmers will ultimately benefit. I am proud to work alongside the President to restore a thriving economy for Main Street.
