We are proud to stand with Erica Deuso in her historic and potentially glass-ceiling-shattering campaign to be Mayor of Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Many of you have written to us voicing your excitement about Erica as a candidate. We are writing to you today because her primary is this TUESDAY!

As a reminder, Erica’s primary is major. She is running against a “Democrat” who proudly calls himself a white nationalist and who has recently doubled down on his transphobia.

This will be one of the least expensive races we’ve ever been a part of. Erica’s fundraising goal for this campaign is $17,000 total. She needs our help to hit that goal and defeat her white nationalist, transphobic PRIMARY opponent on TUESDAY. Help us ensure she can close her fundraising gap and win by chipping in a split $20.25 or more immediately.

Erica was recently featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer and has earned key endorsements from the local Democratic party, as well as the outgoing Mayor. She is a well-respected scientist, businesswoman, and advocate for marginalized communities. She believes in building a safe, sustainable, and strong community where everyone has a voice and every resident, regardless of age, race, gender, or background, feels welcome and protected.

Her Democratic opponent, Barry Cassidy, on the other hand, is running as a Democrat, but his words and actions tell a shocking story. He is a proud white nationalist who routinely uses racist and anti-LGBTQ language. He openly aligns with MAGA extremism.

But the work doesn’t stop there: If Erica wins the primary, she will be facing off against Republican Richard Bryant, a far-right extremist and unapologetic Trump supporter. He uses his online platform to spew misogyny, anti-trans rhetoric, and racist commentary. Additionally, he is known to mock women for their appearance, attack the LGBTQ+ community, and spread harmful lies about climate change and immigrants. He advocates for violence, promotes mass deportation, and supports banning books and suppressing votes. As Erica’s campaign has stated, “This isn’t political disagreement—this is dangerous, dehumanizing extremism.”

In Erica’s own words: “I bring my whole self to this work—including my perspective as a trans woman who’s had to fight to be taken seriously in rooms where decisions get made. That makes me more determined to lead with purpose and to make sure every woman in Downingtown knows her voice matters, and her community has her back. Because when we take care of women, we’re taking care of the whole town.”

Her campaign must raise $17,000 to fully fund its voter outreach and mobilization programs ahead of her primary election on TUESDAY. Through our incredible community of grassroots supporters, we know we can help her get there.
