John,
Congress is rushing to pass a $5 trillion tax giveaway1, mostly to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations, and they plan to pay for it by gutting health care and food assistance for tens of millions of Americans. House Republicans are working furiously behind closed doors to pass this massive legislative package before Memorial Day―and cutting deals with extremists to make even deeper cuts to basic needs programs.2
They want to cut more than $1 trillion from Medicaid and SNAP, kicking tens of millions of people off health care and essential nutrition programs―with 14 million people expected to lose access to health insurance by 20343 and millions more―including many families with school-aged children―losing access to SNAP through changes such as expanded red-tape requirements, or seeing their benefits reduced while grocery prices remain high.4
While every aspect of this bill has been voted out of committees, there are rumors that they’re making changes to the Medicaid and SNAP cuts that could make this bill EVEN WORSE. They want to hand even more wealth and power to the ultra-rich while cutting the services that vulnerable families depend on to survive.
Send a message to Congress urging them to reject the $5 trillion tax handout to billionaires at the expense of the most vulnerable.

This bill represents the most significant transfer of wealth in modern American history.5
Over $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and SNAP are on the table. That means ripping health care away from seniors, children, and people with disabilities. It punishes low-wage working people by increasing their health care costs and finding multiple ways to deny them food and health coverage altogether. It means taking food off the tables of vulnerable families and pushing millions closer to or deeper into poverty. It means higher costs for students, seniors, and workers―while stacking more debt on our country that Republicans will use to justify future cuts to Social Security, Medicare, education, and more.
While the wealthiest Americans hoard fortunes, millions of families are already struggling with the cost of housing, food, health care, and child care. Instead of delivering real relief to working people, this bill doubles down on the failed trickle-down economics that have hollowed out the middle class, deepened inequality, and pushed millions to the brink. And now the news reports are that they are working to add even more extreme cuts before the bill gets to the House floor.
Congress needs to hear from us NOW. Send a message to your Senators and Representative, telling them to reject this horrid bill and deliver real relief to families now.
Thank you for all you do,
