The so-called “PEPPER Act” is one of the most dangerous pieces of
legislation we’ve seen in Congress this year.

Officially named the Promptly Ending Political Prosecutions and Executive
Retaliation Act (H.R. 1789), this bill is nothing more than a
get-out-of-jail-free card for Donald Trump and his allies, including J.D.
Vance and others who want to break the law and claim it was “part of the
job.”

[ [link removed] ]We can’t let this pass. Add your name now to demand your representative
vote NO on the PEPPER Act. >>

Here’s what the bill would do:

* Allow any state criminal or civil case against the president or vice
president to be moved to federal court, where Trump-appointed judges
could throw it out.
* Require dismissal of cases if they could be seen as a distraction to
the president or vice president.
* Prevent judges from even questioning whether an action was truly
related to official duties, if the accused claims it was.
* Presume total immunity for federal officials unless prosecutors can
prove otherwise upfront, tipping the scales against accountability.

It gets worse.

Democratic Rep. Becca Balint offered an amendment to ensure the bill
wouldn’t apply to cases involving sexual assault, allowing those cases to
continue in state court. Every Republican on the committee either voted
against the amendment or didn’t show up. Ten Republicans voted no
outright.

This bill is designed to protect Trump and his allies from the rule of
law. We need to stop it before it gets any further. [ [link removed] ]Add your name to

This isn’t about protecting the presidency. It’s about protecting one man
and his inner circle from the consequences of their actions. It’s about
insulating Trump, his allies, and future MAGA operatives from ever facing
a fair trial in a courtroom they don’t control.

They’ve worked to stack the federal judiciary. Now they want to change the
law so that state courts can’t even try to hold them accountable.

We cannot let that happen.
