A retired high school teacher, Grant has a passion for fostering the next generation of nature advocates by leading teen trips and mentoring young adults who are leaders-in-training. Though he has a blast on teen and young adult trips, Grant believes the most special and unique aspect of Sierra Club Outings is our array of service trips. That volunteer work, as well as our adherence and education around Leave No Trace principals, on-trip conservation talks, and focus on environmental advocacy, make him proud to be part of the program. “For most people, in their normal lives, they aren’t around this level of advocacy and environmentalism, so it’s neat to be immersed in that on Sierra Club trips.” Grant says.
Of the many trips he has attended and led, one of Grant’s favorites was Ancient Trails of the South Rim in the Grand Canyon. The trails on which the group travels are remote, off the beaten path, where you barely see anyone else; it is a beautiful and challenging route.
Join Grant on an upcoming trip.
