I’m going to sum up this week using one
sentence: Republicans want little kids to go hungry so Jeff Bezos can buy
a third yacht.

It’s as simple as that.

Republicans in Congress proposed their budget reconciliation bill earlier
this week. This “big beautiful bill,” as Trump likes to call it, gives
trillions of dollars in tax breaks to billionaires — all by slashing
Medicaid, food assistance, and educational programs.

Oh, and Republicans are now going back to the drawing board on their
original "big beautiful bill" because this one didn't cut health care for
ENOUGH people.

We often hear a lot of numbers thrown around when we talk about budget
plans and reconciliation, but it’s not just about the numbers. It’s about
the real people who are impacted by these decisions. The real lives who
count on the programs we’re discussing. The real pain that will be
inflicted by these cuts.

We could be talking about investments to fix our roads and bridges.
Investments to make child care affordable so parents can get to work.
Investments to help Black and Brown communities get a fighting chance
after decades of discrimination and injustice. Investments to expand
health care access to ensure nobody needs to take out a loan to cover a
hospital visit.

Instead, the GOP wants to shortchange our children so Jeff Bezos can buy
another $40 million clock that ticks once a year.

They want to hollow out our communities so Elon Musk can plan a trip to
Mars.

They want to cripple our small businesses so Mark Zuckerberg can host even
more black tie events, dress up like Benson Boone, and dance around.
(That’s not a joke — I’ve seen the video.)

It’s disgraceful.

These are tax cuts that could cost $52 trillion over the next thirty
years. (To put that into context, that’s more debt than we’ve built up in
our entire 249-year history as a country.)

Republicans know that their vision for these tax cuts is deeply unpopular.
Not just with Democrats, but with Republicans, too.

That’s why Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the spineless Republicans in
Congress are creating a sandstorm so that we’re all looking in fifty
different directions. From talking about invading Greenland to starting
the dumbest trade war in history, they’re trying to distract us from their
deeply unpopular agenda.

They don’t want us to see the number one place where they’re driving this
country: Trillions of dollars in tax cuts for billionaires, paid for on
the backs of seniors, little kids, veterans, and working families.

The Republicans are hoping Americans look anywhere else as they ram their
tax cuts for billionaires through. I won’t let that happen. I’m fighting
every single day to raise the alarm about this blatant giveaway to Trump’s
“rich as hell” donors. I’m working to get every Republican on the record
and hold them accountable.

The Democrats are in this fight all the way — and we’re ready to go.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
