Email from Rep Feenstra In this week's roundup: Passing President Trump's "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" out of committee.     Dear Friend, In this week's roundup: Passing President Trump's "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" out of committee. That and more – remember to follow my Facebook page by clicking here and my Twitter page by clicking here to stay up-to-date throughout the week! PASSING PRESIDENT TRUMP'S "ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL" OUT OF THE WAYS AND MEANS AND AGRICULTURE COMMITTEES This week, as a member of both the Ways and Means Committee and the Agriculture Committee, I voted to advance the tax cuts and agricultural investments of President Trump’s "One, Big, Beautiful Bill." This legislation lowers taxes for our families, farmers, workers, and businesses while supporting investments in domestic manufacturing, business growth, Iowa agriculture, and U.S. energy production. I’m also glad that provisions that I led are included like death tax relief, paid family and medical leave for employees of small businesses, affordable crop insurance policies for young and beginning farmers, investments in foreign animal disease prevention, and expansion of our export markets. Working with President Trump, we are delivering on our promise to the American people to cut taxes, grow our economy, secure our border, and unleash American energy production. Feenstra Secures Tax Relief and Agricultural Investments in President Trump's "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, as the only member of Congress serving on both the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Agriculture Committee, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted to advance the tax and agricultural portions of President Trump's "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" out of each committee. Read More VOTING TO BACK OUR POLICE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS This week, during National Police Week, I voted for a congressional resolution to express my unwavering support for our men and women in law enforcement and recognize the invaluable contributions that these heroes make to our communities. I further backed a bill to ensure that – when police and law enforcement officers retire – they do not lose their right to concealed carry. These privileges help keep our families and communities safe by allowing qualified and trained law enforcement professionals to respond to violent crimes and other threats. Our laws should help retired police and law enforcement promote public safety and wellbeing – not needlessly inhibit these priorities. In years past, I have also voted for legislation to condemn radical calls to defund the police and create federal penalties for criminals who intentionally target, harm, and attack police and law enforcement officials. I will always stand with our police and law enforcement! SPEAKING WITH THE COMMUNITY BANKERS OF IOWA This week, I met with the Community Bankers of Iowa. We celebrated the inclusion of important agricultural provisions from my Access to Credit for our Rural Economy Act in our "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" and I reiterated my strong opposition to enforcement of Section 1071, which would increase the cost of loans. I'll always stand up for our community banks and rural lenders! MEETING WITH THE IOWA STATE POLICE ASSOCIATION On Tuesday, it was great to meet with members of the Iowa State Police Association. We had a productive conversation about investing in law enforcement mental health and recruiting and retaining police officers across Iowa, especially in rural communities. WE HAD A GREAT PASSPORT FAIR IN SIOUX CITY THIS WEEK! On Tuesday, our office hosted a passport fair in Sioux City to help Iowans get a new passport or renew their passport. Providing our constituents with the highest quality service is important to me, and I’m glad that so many Iowans could get the assistance they needed. Thank you to everyone who showed up! OVERTURNING THREE BIDEN-ERA WAIVERS FOR CALIFORNIA'S EV MANDATES Two weeks ago, my Republican colleagues and I voted to overturn three Biden-era waivers granted to California to implement EV mandates. With the average EV priced $14,000 higher than traditional, gas-powered cars, it is never the place of government to put its thumb on the scale, manipulate the market and prevent Americans from choosing the best car or truck that fits their needs. For the prosperity of our nation, we cannot let California's disastrous vehicle and energy policies spread nationwide. Feenstra: Stopping Biden's electric-vehicle mandates Under the Joe Biden administration, purchasing an electric vehicle was not merely a suggestion for Iowa families; it was a de facto mandate. There are 868 names on the wall and 24 Iowans who have never been found. Today and always, we honor the sacrifice of these brave Iowans who served our nation. THANK YOU TO IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT DR. WENDY WINTERSTEEN ON HER YEARS OF SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP! Congratulations to my friend, Dr. Wendy Wintersteen, on her retirement as President of Iowa State University. I am grateful for her years of service to the students and faculty at Iowa State, the City of Ames, and the entire Cyclone community. Thank you for all that you’ve done! NORTHWEST IOWA LEAGUE OF CITIES MEETING IN STORM LAKE Last night, our Ag and Manufacturing Liaison, Wes, attended the Northwest Iowa League of Cities meeting in Storm Lake. Storm Lake Fire Chief Glenn Schlesser presented on “The Basics of Front Line Incident Management for Local Government Officials.” Thank you to our firefighters! WE NEED FACTS ABOUT VIOLENT ATTACKS AGAINST POLICE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT Criminals who deliberately attack police and law enforcement officers must be punished and held accountable for their actions. Our society must have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to assaulting police and law enforcement. One way that we can help protect the men and women who protect our communities is by gathering information on attacks against law enforcement. It’s why I voted for legislation requiring the U.S. Attorney General to provide reports to Congress and the American people about violent attacks against police and law enforcement officers. By fully understanding the facts, we can better defend law enforcement from vicious criminals and threats to their lives. ONE LAST THING: ANNOUNCING ELLA GRAIL AS A RUNNER-UP IN OUR 4TH DISTRICT CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION I’m excited to announce that Ella Grail from Ames High School is one of the runners-up of our 4th District Congressional Art Competition with her artwork titled "Almost Home." Congratulations, Ella! MY WEEKLY COLUMN: HONORING AND THANKING OUR POLICE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS During National Police Week, we pause to recognize and thank our police and law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities and honor the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. These heroes dedicate their careers to public safety and make incredible sacrifices to keep our families safe. Of course, showing our appreciation for these humble and committed men and women extends throughout the entire year, and especially during holidays when we can safely gather with friends and family because of their sacrifice. In Congress, I will always back the blue and support our fellow Iowans who answered the call to serve. Read my full weekly column below.
