BIG SKY REPORT:
 An Update from Senator Daines
 Fellow American,
May is off to a busy start, and I want to share with you some of the key
initiatives and community outreach activities I’ve been working on to keep
Montana and our nation strong.
I hope you enjoy this edition of the Big Sky Report.
Policy Achievements: Advancing Montana’s Priorities
Halt Fentanyl Act
My “Halt All Lethal Trafficking (HALT) of Fentanyl Act” passed the Senate
recently, permanently classifying fentanyl and related substances as Schedule I
drugs. This law will help curb the devastating impact of fentanyl in Montana
communities, protecting our families from this deadly epidemic.
Supporting American Hydropower
I led a bill to support American hydropower, allowing the Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission to approve six-year extensions for projects licensed
before 2020. This ensures reliable, clean energy for Montanans while creating
good-paying jobs across our state.
Protecting Jobs at Bull Mountains Mine
I urged the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee to pass my S.362
bill, which keeps the Bull Mountains Mine open in Musselshell County. This
legislation protects jobs and strengthens energy security—a lifeline for that
community and our state’s economy.

School and Anderson Middle School as they take on D.C.!
Honoring our Nation’s Finest during National Police Week
This week during National Police Week, I was glad to visit with Sheriff
Dutton & his team from Lewis and Clark County. The Treasure State will always
Back the Blue!
Looking Ahead
As I work to deliver for Montana, I’m reminded every day of the strength of
our communities and the importance of your support. If you’d like to help me
continue this fight, please consider a contribution of any amount to my
