John, most people in Congress didn’t grow up like me. My name is Noah Widmann. I’m not a politician, but I’m proud to announce I’m running as a Democrat for Florida’s 7th Congressional District. Look here: For as long as I’ve been alive (29 years!), being wealthy and well connected has been the only path to winning a Congressional seat and representing the people. I’ve spent my entire life watching Congress get older, richer, and further from the people they are actually elected to fight for. I rarely see folks like me – a teen parent who worked as a fry cook for $8 an hour – in office. But I’ve been defying the odds my whole life – and with your help, we can do it again. That’s why I’m asking for your support today. Unlike most candidates for Congress, I don’t have millions of dollars to fund my campaign. There aren’t a lot of former fry cooks in Congress. I hate that to run a winning campaign, it takes millions of dollars. Truly, this system is messed up! But John – I refuse to accept that only the ultra-wealthy should run for office. So I’m humbly asking: Will you split a $15 donation between myself and Blue Amp Action to become a Founding Donor of my campaign? >> I’m a heck of a lot different than most members of Congress. I was raised by a single, disabled mother in central Florida. We lived in Section 8 housing and relied on food stamps to get by. The system was meant to work against people like me. When I secured a path to college through a wrestling scholarship, I thought I had broken the cycle of poverty. But on what was meant to be my first day of class, I found out I was going to be a father. So I made a new plan: Do whatever it takes to ensure my daughter can succeed in life. My daughter Elizabeth will be 10 years old next month. And her father — who worked day and night to provide for her — is running for Congress. When I decided to run for Congress to fight for working-class families like mine, I knew I wouldn’t have the same connections as the D.C. insiders. But, John: I can’t take on this fight alone. I’ll need the support of folks like you to prove I have what it takes to win this race, defeat MAGA extremist Cory Mills, and flip the House for Democrats. Can I count on you to become a Founding Donor of my campaign by splitting $15 between my campaign and Blue Amp Action before midnight? >> John, when I was 18, I worked as a fry cook, bagged groceries at Publix, and did anything I could to pay the bills. I worked night shifts as an EMT to put myself through community college, becoming the first in my family to attend university—then law school. Now I fight to make sure people get the benefits they’ve earned and rely on, like Social Security. So when I see our Congressman attack working families like mine, it’s not just about politics. It’s deeply personal. John, I’m not running for Congress because I have deep pockets or connections that can get me elected – I’m running in spite of that. I’m running to break the cycle and ensure everyone has a seat at the table. I’ve seen how hard it is to change a system that wasn’t built for folks like me to win. But I’ve also seen what’s possible when people join together, organize, and build change. So please: Can I count on you to split a $15 donation between my campaign and Blue Amp Action, become a Founding Donor, and help me pull off a historic victory? >> |
