Chairwoman Stefanik Leads Legislation for School Choice via Tax Incentives

This week, Chairwoman Elise Stefanik proposed legislation to expand school
choice by way of tax incentives. The "Educational Choice for Children Act"
offers a 75% federal tax credit for donations to organizations funding
scholarships for K-12 students to attend private or religious schools. The bill
is being cosponsored by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah,
Rep. Adrian Smith, R-Neb.

Chairwoman Elise Stefanik stated —

“New York elected Democrat’s near universal opposition to school choice has
left our students trapped in a failing system. Despite spending more than any
state in the nation per student —New York’s schools continue to underperform
with rampant absenteeism and failing outcomes. It’s time to give every child
the chance to reach their full potential.”

Rep. Adrian Smith stated —

“Every child in America deserves a quality education and the Educational
Choice for Children Act is our best opportunity to ensure every parent can
enroll their child in the school which best meets their needs. I am grateful
ECCA is included in the House tax package and that it has the support of so
many leaders across the House Republican Conference.”

STEFANIK OP-ED: Educational Freedom is the Key to Our Children’s Future

Chairwoman Stefanik penned a Newsweek opinion piece this week on why the
children of America deserve the best quality education possible and laid out
her legislative plan on how to get it done with the Educational Choice for
Children Act.

Chairwoman Elise Stefanik stated –

“Like nearly all parents across New York state, I am deeply concerned about
our failing education system and schools. That's why I'm proud to help lead the
Educational Choice for Children Act, legislation that would expand school
choice and provide high quality educational opportunities for students trapped
in failing school systems.

At the heart of this initiative is the belief that every child, regardless of
income or background, deserves access to a high-quality education. The
Educational Choice for Children Act incentivizes charitable donations to fund
scholarships for K-12 students, empowering families to choose the school—public
or private—that best fits their child's needs.

Whether that means enrolling in a charter school, moving to a different
public school, or finding a specialized private option, this is about putting
power in the hands of parents.”

WATCH: Chairwoman Stefanik with Mark Levin on Fox News

Chairwoman Stefanik joined Mark Levin on his show “Life, Liberty & Levin” to
discuss her continued fight against antisemitism in higher education nationwide
and what it's going to take to prevent the next generation of Marxists from
dominating our classrooms with foreign dollars.

Chairwoman Stefanik stated –

“We're working hand in glove in ensuring these universities don't feel
entitled to US taxpayer dollars because they're not law. If they're not
protecting the civil rights of Jewish students on campus, they're not entitled
to those dollars.

In addition, we are increasing the accountability for foreign dollars flowing
into US universities. And you nailed it on the head. There are foreign dollars
who are propping up these pro Hamas agitators and encampments. There are
foreign dollars flowing in from communist China that are funding Confucius
Institutes. We are taking action after action to hold them accountable.”

GOP Women Working for Our Seniors

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis visited her NY-11 constituents in Bay Ridge,
Brooklyn, this week to discuss the work she’s doing in Washington to deliver
tax reliefs for senior citizens.

Rep. Malliotakis stated –

“I wanted to tell everyone the good news that we are working hard to deliver
tax relief for our senior citizens. For those of you that are on social
security, if you earn less than $75,000 for an individual or $150,000 for
married couples, we believe you are going to get some significant savings when
we pass our bill. My legislation to increase the deduction to seniors to
$4,000, or $8,000 if you’re married, I think is going to pass. We are going to
get it done and we’re going to deliver it to seniors in Staten Island and
Brooklyn.”

On the state and local tax (SALT) deductions:

“If we triple it, it will actually cover 98 percent of the people in our
district. Families that make less than $400,000 will see that deduction triple.
It’s going to cover the seniors and middle-class families. That is also making
its way in the bill.”
