Friend,
It seems like every day there’s another story about how Republicans in Congress are looking to destroy programs like Medicare and Social Security under the guise of “saving” them.
Ruben isn’t falling for the spin.
That’s why he’s backing the Medicare and Social Security Fair Share Act — a bill the GOP absolutely hates.
Why? Because it does one simple thing:
It makes the richest people finally pay their fair share.
Let’s put this into perspective a bit. You probably pay your Medicare and Social Security taxes on every paycheck. You pay a fraction of your wages into the program, and you keep doing that until you retire — when you start to receive the benefits you paid into. That’s how it works.
But billionaires like Elon Musk? They stop paying into these programs partway through January — because there’s a cap on how much they’re required to contribute. Once they hit it, they’re done.
We can fix this and keep Medicare and Social Security afloat for the long run by lifting the contribution caps for people making over $400,000 a year, increasing their Medicare tax rate, and closing a loophole that lets them avoid Medicare taxes.
And those people making over $400,000 a year? That’s about 5% of the total population of the United States. Only the wealthiest folks will pay a bit more, and everyone benefits.
If we do that, we keep these programs paying out what we pay into them for the next 75 years.
Sound good? We think so. That’s why Ruben signed on, and it’s why we’re writing to you today.
Do you agree that the wealthiest people in the country should pay their fair share into Medicare and Social Security just like the rest of us? Add your name if you do!

Ruben’s fighting to protect what we’ve all earned — and to make sure these programs are there for us, our parents, and our kids.
Thank you for helping him do it.
