St. Joseph County Man Convicted of Three Counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct
*LANSING* – Yesterday, Geral Whitney, 69, of Harrison, was found guilty by a St. Joseph County jury of one count of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and two counts of Second-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Whitney, who was charged in 2023, sexually assaulted a relative 20 years ago.
“Sexual assaults are very serious crimes, and I am grateful to the jury for their deliberations and to the victims who displayed great courage to come forward,” Nessel said. “My Department remains committed to securing justice for sexual assault survivors.”
The investigation and charging decisions in this case were conducted by the St. Joseph County Sheriff and Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, respectively. The Department of Attorney General managed the prosecution at the prosecutor’s request that came in 2024.
Whitney will be sentenced on July 11, 2025, before Judge Paul Stutesman in the 45th Circuit Court in St. Joesph County.
