Hi John — We are sad to share the news that George Stafford, a former Wharton Councilman, has passed away.
George was most recently employed by the New Jersey Highlands Coalition, where he had worked tirelessly on environmental issues, in particular stopping an attempt by the Christie Administration to weaken regulations. George served as a Wharton Town Councilman from 1976-1987. [link removed] [[link removed]]
Later, he worked for Assemblyman and then-Senator Gordon MacInnes. In the following years, he served as a Tax Commissioner for the Morris County Board of Taxation, and a videographer for “The Daley News” and director of production for “Video on the Go.” He wrote the “Eyes Left” editorial column for New Jersey Hills Media Group for many years.
