Waterkeeper Alliance is expanding its fight against PFAS — the toxic “forever chemicals” contaminating water and threatening public health — beyond the United States.

This month, we joined our partners in Bangladesh to expose widespread PFAS pollution from industrial discharges into rivers and farmland. The majority of water pollution poisoning low-income communities in Bangladesh comes from the textile industry, which makes clothing worn around the world, including in the United States. Sharif Jamil, Buriganga Riverkeeper and Coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh, is leading the call for stronger protections, supported by our Advocacy Director Jacki Esposito and the global Waterkeeper network.

“People don’t even know PFAS is in their water while PFAS pollution was found 54,000 times more than the Dutch standard in Karnatali River near Dhaka,” Sharif warned. “The impact is real — and growing.”

We’re responding by providing legal and policy expertise, supporting local testing, and mobilizing international pressure. But we need your help.
