John, the Trump Administration just banned my book.
They banned my book from the U.S. Naval Academy Library – part of a purge of nearly 400 titles.
When a book about voting rights is seen as a threat, we should all be paying attention. The freedom to learn is on the line.
Those who hold our nation's power actually believe my book about democracy is a threat to their ability to destroy it.
Trump is removing books about race, gender, inequality, and the cost of housing from shelves. He is banning books that are memoirs, written by journalists, and based on scientific research.
Anything that makes people think critically is the enemy.
Meanwhile, Mein Kampf, Hitler’s manifesto, remains on the shelves.
I know why Trump is threatened by DEI and any books that fall under that umbrella. DEI contains the movement for progress and opportunity we have achieved as a country and continue to strive for. DEI encompasses a woman’s right to choose, disability rights, labor rights, and protecting those in the minority.
They are not banning books to protect young minds, they are banning books to protect themselves from being held accountable.
Together, we can end these book bans and end Trump’s purely sinister attacks on DEI and democracy.
But the only way we win is together.
Speak Up PAC is fighting to build a pro-democracy movement to end book bans and make a more inclusive democracy. We need your support, John. Will you chip in today to fuel Speak Up PAC’s mission?
