1) Where Is Trump's 15% Tax Rate?

Since he first started running for president in 2016, Donald Trump has sought a 15% corporate tax rate. Unleash Prosperity co-founders Larry Kudlow and Steve Moore were in the room with him nine years ago when he first started talking up that rate.

In the 2017 bill we got the rate down from 35% to 21%. Corporate revenues increased. Trump ran on 15% in 2024 and won. Still the House GOP tax bill has no rate cut. Even the scaled back 15% rate for made-in-America companies is nowhere to be found. This could have easily been paid for with the Trump 10% tariff revenue.

What is disheartening to us is that instead of the 15% business rate, the House Republicans chose to extend Biden's Green New Deal subsidies for windmills and solar boondoggles.

The Senate should resurrect the 15% rate.

2) Big Beautiful Bill Takes School Choice National

Our coalition for school choice ([link removed]) with our friends at ALEC and many others has helped produce an amazing string of education choice programs across the country. In just the last three years, 17 states have adopted universal or near-universal private school scholarship programs. But there are many Democratic strongholds left out - at least until now.

Now, Trump is giving choice a bigger boost. The Big Beautiful Bill creates a new tax credit (up to 10% of AGI) for charitable contributions to tax-exempt organizations that provide scholarships to elementary and secondary school students. The program is capped at $5 billion per year for four years.

We congratulate Rep. Adrian Smith of Nebraska, the lead sponsor of this idea, and Chairman Jason Smith of Missouri for including this program in the bill.

3) Least Surprising Headline in Modern Times
[link removed]

Gee, who - except a bunch of idiot politicians in Washington - would have ever thought that forgiving as many people from paying their student loans as possible would increase delinquencies?

Even after the courts ordered student loans return to repayment status, the Biden administration hid delinquency data by purposely not reporting to credit bureaus how many accounts were behind on payments.

Now, the Trump administration’s Department of Education is honestly reporting the data, which show serious delinquency rates are over more than 10 times what the Biden Department of Education said they were.

As we said many times last year: expect student loan defaults to remain sky high for many years, as deadbeat borrowers wait for the next student loan amnesty program.

4) We Hope the New Pope Leo Understands This

One of our readers sent this passage from Pope Leo XIII’s encyclical letter from back in 1891:

It is surely undeniable that, when a man engages in remunerative labor, the impelling reason and motive of his work is to obtain property, and thereafter to hold it as his very own…

Socialists, therefore, by endeavoring to transfer the possessions of individuals to the community at large, strike at the interests of every wage-earner, since they would deprive him of the liberty of disposing of his wages, and thereby of all hope and possibility of increasing his resources and of bettering his condition in life.

5) Antarctica's Ice Sheet Is Growing and It's No Surprise You Haven't Read About It

A new peer-reviewed scientific study shows that Antarctica's massive ice sheet is growing, not shrinking. Four key glacier basins have shown significant growth due to increased snowfall.

Science China Earth Sciences reports that the Antarctic Ice Sheet had a record-breaking mass gain between 2021 and 2023 -- a historic turnaround.

That growth was enough to (for now) offset global sea level rises.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet holds more than half of the world's fresh water, so the increase is welcome. Fox News reports scientists say, "it's a reminder of how dynamic and sensitive polar regions are to climate shifts. If similar conditions persist, they could reshape near-term sea level predictions."

It's important to realize that as with COVID, the models used to predict Antarctic and other ice flows aren't the full story. Recall that models recently predicted the world was going to run out of polar bears? It turns out that their population is now increasing.
