Donald Trump and his administration are not just proposing new laws that make voting harder. They are ALSO not enforcing the voting rights laws already on the books.

When federal voting rights laws were passed, voter suppression didn’t magically disappear. The federal government and the Justice Department worked to enforce the Voting Rights Acts, and held states accountable.

Now, Donald Trump is saying there will be little to no enforcement of federal voting laws. If states want to make voter registration harder, if they want to remove polling locations from predominantly Black areas, if they want to purge voter rolls, the federal government will look the other way.

John, I know I may sound like a broken record, but the work of democracy is ongoing, and we have to fight for our voting rights.
