Ottawa County Advances to Next Phase in Administrator Search Process
Ottawa County’s search for its next County Administrator has reached the next milestone with the closing of the application window on Monday, May 5, 2025. The position has generated strong interest from candidates across Michigan and the United States who bring a wide range of leadership experience in government, nonprofit organizations, and private industry.
“We are encouraged by the level of interest in the position and look forward to the next phase of the process,” said John Teeples, Ottawa County Board of Commissioners Chairperson. “Our focus remains on selecting a leader who can provide stability, strengthen collaboration, and support the long-term needs of the organization and community.”
The search attracted 39 applicants from across Michigan and the country. Of those, 30 candidates met the minimum qualifications and will advance to the next stage. The search process, facilitated by public-sector consulting firm Double Haul Solutions [ [link removed] ], now moves into the pre-vetting phase, during which qualified applicants will be reviewed in more detail. Applicants include city managers, department directors, senior consultants, and executives from nationally recognized institutions. Many bring decades of experience in managing complex teams, public services, and community initiatives. Their expressed interest in Ottawa County reflects a desire to support effective local government and engage in meaningful public service.
“We’ve seen strong interest from applicants who are deeply committed to public service,” said Mitch Foster, Recruitment Lead with Double Haul Solutions. “As we move into the pre-vetting phase, our focus shifts to identifying candidates who reflect Ottawa County’s values and priorities; individuals who can navigate complexity, listen with intention, and lead the organization forward with steadiness and care.”
