JOHN,
The American people are demanding an end to Congressional stock trading. This is not a partisan issue: Democrats, Republicans, and Independents all agree — it is long past time to ban Members of Congress from trading stock.
That’s why I’ve taken a stand. I’m proud to be the lead sponsor of the main bipartisan bill to ban Members of Congress from trading individual stocks. And our momentum to get this done is picking up.
The incentives to cheat the system are too strong. And unless we end these insider deals — once and for all — we’ll never have a Congress that truly works for the people who sent us here.
I didn’t run for office to protect the portfolios of the powerful. I ran to fight for the people who power this country — teachers, nurses, grocery clerks, postal workers, parents doing everything they can to build a better future for their kids.
Every Rhode Islander should be able to walk into a grocery store without checking their bank account first. They should be able to pay rent without skipping meals. They should be able to raise a family, save for the future, and live with dignity.
If you’re with me in this fight for fairness — for dignity, for accountability — I hope you’ll consider chipping in to help fuel this work.
If you’re able, please consider making a contribution here.
Thank you for standing with me,
Seth
