John

Even though it was yesterday, I want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there. Cindy is a remarkable Mom to our two daughters and is the most incredible woman on the planet. Cindy and I have both lost our Moms in the past few years, so this weekend was also full of sweet memories and reflection.

This week in the Senate, we are working through several nominations for President Trump's team including the Secretary of the Air Force, Deputy Secretary of Energy, Deputy Secretary of the Interior, and the Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources. We are getting closer and closer on the bill to prevent a tax hike at the end of 2025 and address some of the drivers of our overspending and debt. Some of the sticking points Republicans are trying to iron out right now are on important conversations like Medicaid work requirements for able-bodied adults, the tax deduction for State and Local Taxes (referred to as "SALT"), and more. So if you see news reports about the "SALT cap," they're not talking about the lid to your shaker.

We will get these issues worked out and bring this bill to the floor as soon as possible.

We have work to do on other areas like this year's defense bill and the farm bill that Chuck Schumer punted last fall, and a bill for our nation's highways and interstates. Eventually we also need to fund essential government services before September 30.

This is a busy time in Washington, DC, with numerous Oklahoma groups making their way to our nation's capital to bring Oklahoma ideas to our congressional delegation. Thank you to everyone who shares our Oklahoma common sense with Washington, DC. I am always grateful to have the back up.

Remember God's never-ending guidance in Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

Keep praying for the nation.
