As ICE agents improperly arrested Newark's Mayor on Friday, they also
manhandled my former boss -- Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman -- who is
80 years old. (She's the one with gray hair below.)

Bonnie made clear how this escalation by the Trump administration is a
threat to the rights and liberties of all Americans: "What they did to
Mayor Baraka, and if they do what they did to the three of us [members of
Congress], then they can do it to anybody."

To sum up what happened: Members of Congress have a right to inspect
federal ICE facilities. ICE actually let them in! After they came out,
they were greeted by Newark's Mayor and were going to do a press
conference. Then, ICE agents came outside of their facility and
specifically rounded up Newark's mayor! They charged him with
"trespassing" even though he was not in the ICE facility and was on public
Newark property!

And now, the Dept. of Homeland Security is publicly threatening to arrest
the 3 members of Congress!

It's outrageous.
