This Mother’s Day, as we celebrate the women who raised us with love, strength and sacrifice, let's not forget the mothers facing the world’s most challenging situations.
John, they're the ones comforting their children amid war, skipping meals to feed their families and holding onto hope in the grip of poverty.
More than just survivors, mothers and mother figures are pillars of their families and communities, overcoming impossible odds to provide for their loved ones and inspire a better tomorrow.
From war-torn cities and refugee camps to drought-stricken villages and struggling rural communities, mothers worldwide are fighting to protect their kids from hunger, violence and suffering.

Hawla* and her two children, Durah* and Abdu*, enjoy yogurt made by their mother with Save the Children team members. |
In Kenya, Hawla* fought to save her family from severe drought, working tirelessly in the quarry until she received cash assistance from Save the Children. With this help, she bought a cow and calf to provide milk, yogurt and dairy foods for her two children.

Hala* holding her son, Morad*, whose health is improving after being treated at a Save the Children clinic. |
Hala* braved constant bombings at her home in Gaza. After giving birth to her son, Morad,* they fled to safety in a displacement camp. When she noticed Morad's delayed development, she searched for an answer and finally found help at a Save the Children clinic, where he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and malnutrition. With treatment, Morad began gaining weight and his condition improved.

Daniela* talked with a Save the Children team about the importance of the cash assistance she received to make her home safe. |
In Colombia, Daniela* works multiple jobs – recycling, cleaning houses and washing clothes – to provide for her children. With cash assistance from Save the Children, she repaired her leaking roof and bought school supplies to ensure her daughter's education continued.
This Mother’s Day, let's remember these women — and all the mothers and mother figures — working to keep their children healthy, safe and cared for around the world.
Because every mother deserves to be honored, and every child deserves a chance at a bright future.
Happy Mother’s Day,
